So finally we know what Matt has been up to. Just installed Akismet on Beta Thoughts. I have deactivated Spam Karma for now. Let us see how effective Akismet is. One thing I fail to understand is the distribution mechanism of API keys. Does that mean that every one should have a weblog on wordpress.com as well as one’s personal weblog?? Hopefully the doubt will be clear in few days.
The name Akismet is interesting as kismet is urdu/persian word for fate. Â

1Just because you have a WordPress.com account doesn’t mean you have to blog there, you can use the account for other things, even if it’s just commenting on other WP.com blogs.

2I was just curious to check the comment mechanism/Spam management of this plug-in. As I have tried various spam control systems in the past, and finally working with SPAM KARMA 2.
I would like to learn more bout it’s performance.

3Performance info you seek, performance info I have. :) I’ve written a little about how Akismet performed in testing.

4It’s pretty fast, the hosting problems seem to be fixed, and it gets it right just about all the time.
