Having folks back in India warrants a lot of overseas call. For the reasons best known to VSNL or other such outfits international calling to and from India has been quite expensive. Its still better than when I came over here. At that time it used to be 37 cents per minute thru MCI or AT&T. Then I discovered the world of calling cards. Rediff Valucom was just god sent gift at 20-25 cents a minute with no pin to call.
After a while Valucom also became expensive and I moved on to ReliableCom, SDICard and 9278.com etc at the rate of 14-18 cents a minute. Now when I got back from I got to know of Reliance India Call which is giving India calling at the introductory price of 11.9 cents per minute. I am totally liking their service. Now since this is an introductory price let us see what happens in the future. It would also be interesting to see how they cope up when every one starts using them.

5reliance india call has recently hiked their prices to 12.9 cents a minute and there is 10% extra fees like 1 dollar is charged on signing up and small print says there are additional taxes. so you dont get the minutes they promise becoz of all these costs and taxes.
after consulting a bit with my seniors in the USA i signed up at http://www.lotsofminutes.com and got $7.25 free on sign up. no extra charges, 1 min rounding and hyderabad rate is 7 cents a min. they have different rates for AP, Kerala, Delhi., Bombay, chennai etc.
calling withing usa is 1.9cents and that has helped me a lot with no cell phone being new in the country. reliance is total rip off if your caling to Hyd. like me and its only good to call india, i do have to call UK and Germany and lotsofminutes.com offers good rates.
sukhi you can use it to call usa from canada and to india as well.

7Reliance recently was fined 150 crores for illegally routing their International calls to India as local calls. its such a bad thing that the #1 company of India uses these kind of measures to get into market. wonder what will be their rates and quality once the illegal routes has been disrupted. hey sujata looks like you have good things to say abt http://www.lotsofminutes.com. will give it a spin as am heavy hyderabad and AP caller.

8Reliance service is excellent in terms of quality. Never had a problem.
That everyone agrees.
Their flat pricing seems outrageous, esp. for destinations like Hyderabad, and the other cities :)
We certainly have cheaper options with a decent service.
For a one time use, I’d recommend WQN.com which gives away $5 to both the referrer (user) and the introduced (new user)

9STAY AWAY FROM RELIANCE INDIA CALL.
IF YOU CHOOSE THE PAY AFTER USE OPTION THEY WILL CHARGE YOU 1.95 MONTHLY FEES BUT THEN BEFORE THE MONTH IS OVER OR YOUR BILLING CYCLE IS OVER, THEY WILL START CHARGING YOUR CREDIT CARD.
THEY CALLED ME AND I REFUSED TO GIVE PERMISSION TO CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD. HOWEVER THEY STILL WENT AHEAD AND CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. THEY USED THE CREDIT CARD NUMBER I HAD USED FOR A PREVIOUS PAYMENT TO CHARGE THIS PAYMENT.
THIS IS A BIG DISGRACE FOR A COMPANY TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND I AM GETTING MY ACCOUNT CANCELLED.
CANNOT TRUST WHAT THIS COMPANY WILL DO WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD AND YOU MAY SEE A LOT OF FRAUDULENT CHARGES.

11I think http://www.callingforcheap.com had the best deals I have seen. It would be 1.9 cents to Canada and about 9 cents depending on where you called in India.
I like them because they have no connection fee, no mainanence fee, nearest minute rounding (which was very important to me), online account management, and NO PINS which I love.
Check them out. I really think http://www.callingforcheap.com is the best deal out there.

13Hi all,
DON’T BUY CALLING CARDS on Pinonsale.com.This is the company which sells calling cards for 58mins and u get 5 mins on that..i wasted my money by purchasing calling cards on this site. There is no response at all for the Customer Support number they specified. When I tried to reach them through email, no response for that too.Don’t you ever waste your money with this site.
