A whole new way – Reliance India Call

Having folks back in India warrants a lot of overseas call. For the reasons best known to VSNL or other such outfits international calling to and from India has been quite expensive. Its still better than when I came over here. At that time it used to be 37 cents per minute thru MCI or AT&T. Then I discovered the world of calling cards. Rediff Valucom was just god sent gift at 20-25 cents a minute with no pin to call.

After a while Valucom also became expensive and I moved on to ReliableCom, SDICard and 9278.com etc at the rate of 14-18 cents a minute. Now when I got back from I got to know of Reliance India Call which is giving India calling at the introductory price of 11.9 cents per minute. I am totally liking their service. Now since this is an introductory price let us see what happens in the future. It would also be interesting to see how they cope up when every one starts using them.

  2. looking to get long distance service for my self and family. we call canada to india and usa most of the time.

  3. I used to use Reliance india. But i was paying a lot more but with viapin i am paying like 5 cents to hyderabad 100% clean calling card. Their quality is great.

  4. reliance india call has recently hiked their prices to 12.9 cents a minute and there is 10% extra fees like 1 dollar is charged on signing up and small print says there are additional taxes. so you dont get the minutes they promise becoz of all these costs and taxes.

after consulting a bit with my seniors in the USA i signed up at http://www.lotsofminutes.com and got $7.25 free on sign up. no extra charges, 1 min rounding and hyderabad rate is 7 cents a min. they have different rates for AP, Kerala, Delhi., Bombay, chennai etc.

calling withing usa is 1.9cents and that has helped me a lot with no cell phone being new in the country. reliance is total rip off if your caling to Hyd. like me and its only good to call india, i do have to call UK and Germany and lotsofminutes.com offers good rates.

sukhi you can use it to call usa from canada and to india as well.

  5. I have been using reliance india call almost everyday for about 5 months now. I never had any problems so far. The call quality is superb. No complaints here.

  6. Reliance recently was fined 150 crores for illegally routing their International calls to India as local calls. its such a bad thing that the #1 company of India uses these kind of measures to get into market. wonder what will be their rates and quality once the illegal routes has been disrupted. hey sujata looks like you have good things to say abt http://www.lotsofminutes.com. will give it a spin as am heavy hyderabad and AP caller.

  7. Reliance service is excellent in terms of quality. Never had a problem.
    That everyone agrees.

Their flat pricing seems outrageous, esp. for destinations like Hyderabad, and the other cities :)
We certainly have cheaper options with a decent service.

For a one time use, I’d recommend WQN.com which gives away $5 to both the referrer (user) and the introduced (new user)

  8. STAY AWAY FROM RELIANCE INDIA CALL.

IF YOU CHOOSE THE PAY AFTER USE OPTION THEY WILL CHARGE YOU 1.95 MONTHLY FEES BUT THEN BEFORE THE MONTH IS OVER OR YOUR BILLING CYCLE IS OVER, THEY WILL START CHARGING YOUR CREDIT CARD.

THEY CALLED ME AND I REFUSED TO GIVE PERMISSION TO CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD. HOWEVER THEY STILL WENT AHEAD AND CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. THEY USED THE CREDIT CARD NUMBER I HAD USED FOR A PREVIOUS PAYMENT TO CHARGE THIS PAYMENT.

THIS IS A BIG DISGRACE FOR A COMPANY TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND I AM GETTING MY ACCOUNT CANCELLED.

CANNOT TRUST WHAT THIS COMPANY WILL DO WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD AND YOU MAY SEE A LOT OF FRAUDULENT CHARGES.

  9. i tried http://www.lotsofminutes.com its great especially the no fees since the online statement confirms it. I got $5.00 free when i signed up. thanks sujata for the info.

  10. I think http://www.callingforcheap.com had the best deals I have seen. It would be 1.9 cents to Canada and about 9 cents depending on where you called in India.

I like them because they have no connection fee, no mainanence fee, nearest minute rounding (which was very important to me), online account management, and NO PINS which I love.
Check them out. I really think http://www.callingforcheap.com is the best deal out there.

  11. folks before you buy any cell phone please look at http://www.telebayplans for best deals with cash backs

  12. Hi all,
DON’T BUY CALLING CARDS on Pinonsale.com.This is the company which sells calling cards for 58mins and u get 5 mins on that..i wasted my money by purchasing calling cards on this site. There is no response at all for the Customer Support number they specified. When I tried to reach them through email, no response for that too.Don’t you ever waste your money with this site.
    manjari.

  13. Have been using RelianceIndia Call and didn’t have any complaints for about 10-11 months. Since the past 3-4 months the call quality is consistently deteriorating. Contacted Reliance a couple of times , but didn’t receive any response.

  14. Hi,
Was a customer of Reliance, but they have been down since today. My friend suggested talkloop.com and joined them. They have better rates 9.5 cents/min and their quality is excellent. Well sometimes things like this, help us save money.

  15. http://www.primecalls.com was a very good phone service that could connect to my village(somehow the reliance doesn’t) but the site is closed right now. It was a quality service however had to compete Reliance and therefore unsuccesful.

If any one wants to buy this site and infrastructure, email me.

  16. Most of the new calls placed using calling cards are routed via internet (VOIP). So if u want cheaper service than Reliance India Call, then try testing the quality of their service, I found this link where u can try some of the providers for free with free calling card minutes and then signup for the service.

Remember to check all the extra fees like monthly fee, taxes per call and minutes rounding before making a purchage.

  17. reliance is an obstinate company. i called and the call did not get thru. but it charged me minutes. i tried three times and it happened the same.

it happened again a month later. the cust rep is saying it happens in cordless phones. these people dont know the basics of cordless p hone. if it happes to that particular call it should happen to all calls. but for me only have problem with reliance india call. it just goes blank.

they are saying that their machines shows no fault.

i have reported to BBB and i am going make sure i wouldnt need this reliance.
they also charge tax . i wonder why.

  18. In my best experaince I found relianceIndia call is the best calling card ever I found.I did using same for the last 1 year and it is the best compare to the other popular calling cards company.

  19. In my best experaince I found relianceIndia call is the best calling card ever I found.I did using same for the last 1 year and it is the best compare to the other popular calling cards company.

  20. I have been using Reliance India Call from USA w/o any problem. It was always giving me good connections, but something happened to their website. I tried all day today but couldn’t access my account . I don’t know if it just happened or it is like that for the last few weeks. I want to find an alternative reliable service.

  21. RelianceIndiaCall is good to call private operators but is pathetic to call bsnl phones. And this seems to have been done deliberately by reliance, they have even recorded the error messages from bsnl and falsely play them to mislead their US customers in believing that the bsnl phone on the other end is dead or out of range. Mr.Reliance please get smarter, consumers are not fools…

  22. I just paid $20 to recharge my account. After confirmation of payment my account balance shown as $14.00. Customer service is a JOKE. I was told that i agreed to buy a movie package by clicking on confirm payment. DO NOT BUY RELIANCE.

  23. Hi All
